Jalwa - Responsible Gaming

Jalwa responsible gaming: how to set deposit and time limits, recognise problem-gambling warning signs, self-exclude, and reach confidential 18+ support helplines.

Play within your limits

Responsible gaming at Jalwa starts before you make your first deposit. Decide on a fixed weekly or monthly entertainment budget, just as you would for dining out or streaming subscriptions, and treat that figure as an absolute ceiling, not a starting point. A practical benchmark used by many players in India is capping gaming spend at 2 to 5% of monthly take-home income. For someone earning ₹40,000 a month, that means no more than ₹800 to ₹2,000 across the entire month, regardless of how a session is going.

When funding your Jalwa account via PhonePe, GPay, or BHIM UPI, set a UPI daily spend limit inside those apps as a second layer of protection. PhonePe and GPay both allow per-app or per-merchant transaction caps in their settings menu, enabling this means even an impulsive late-night deposit is blocked at the payment level before it reaches your account. Always play sober and well-rested; fatigue and emotional distress impair judgment far more than most players realise.

Warning signs of problem gambling

Problem gambling rarely announces itself loudly. Common early signals include spending more time or money than planned, feeling irritable when not playing, and returning to the game shortly after a loss to "win it back." Financial red flags include unexplained shortfalls in your savings account, borrowing from family or friends without explanation, or making multiple small UPI transfers to your gaming wallet in quick succession to stay under a mental threshold.

Emotional signs are equally important: a growing preoccupation with planning the next session, lying to a spouse or parent about how much you spent, or using gambling as the primary way to cope with stress, loneliness, or boredom. If three or more of these patterns describe your recent behaviour, treat it as a clear signal to use the tools described below or to seek confidential support without delay.

Deposit, loss and time limits

Jalwa offers three configurable account controls accessible directly from your profile dashboard under Responsible Gaming → My Limits. A deposit limit caps the total amount you can add to your account in a rolling 24-hour, 7-day, or 30-day window. A loss limit automatically pauses gameplay once your net losses reach a threshold you define, for example, ₹500 per day or ₹2,000 per week. A session time limit triggers a mandatory pop-up reminder after 30, 60, or 90 minutes of continuous play, prompting you to confirm whether to continue or log out.

All three limits take effect immediately when set. Increases to an existing limit, however, are subject to a 72-hour cooling-off delay, this prevents a frustrated player from raising limits in the heat of the moment. Decreases apply instantly with no waiting period. We recommend reviewing your limits at the start of each month, the same time you review other household expenses, so your gaming budget stays aligned with your actual financial position.

Self-exclusion and cool-off

If you feel you need a stronger intervention, Jalwa provides two opt-out options. A cool-off period suspends your account for 1, 7, 14, or 30 days. During a cool-off you cannot log in, deposit, or place bets, but your account and balance remain intact and are restored automatically when the period ends. A self-exclusion is a longer-term measure, available for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or permanently. Self-exclusion blocks all access and removes your marketing preferences so Jalwa will not contact you with promotions during the exclusion period.

To activate either option, go to Account → Responsible Gaming → Take a Break and follow the three-step confirmation process. Both options are irreversible for their chosen duration, you cannot cancel a self-exclusion mid-term by contacting support, which is intentional. If you choose permanent self-exclusion, reactivation requires a formal written request reviewed by our compliance team with a minimum 6-month waiting period.
